minimal faceshield for rapid deployment with readily available materials
2020 • private project • rapid production
During to the Corona pandemic, there were significant shortages in the supply of medical protection equipment, affecting not only hospitals, but also nursing homes, doctors’ clinics and public institutions. QuickVisor is a private student project that intervenes in this crisis with a simple design and was our attempt to support the fight against Covid-19. Using 3D printing, the visors are cheaply, rapidly and decentralised produced by a network of supporters and then donated to doctors’ surgeries or other institutions.
The design of the visor is material efficient, stackable and easy/fast to print, but a lot of emphasis was put on good comfort and ergonomics. The material choices were made with availability and rapid deployment in mind. Over 800 of the visors have been donated by us to various facilities.
This project ended after supply chains and processes were back to normal.
